2025 Board Candidate Statements
Dona Ziegler
Candidate for Yeoman
I am honored to run for Yeoman of the Canyon Lake Yacht Club as I am proud to be a member of this great club and community for the past five years.
If I am elected, I have many attributes that I will bring to the position. I am a retired school secretary from Moreno Valley Unified for 25 years. While there, I served alongside the school principal as a confidential secretary. During the district’s growth spurt I was fortunate to have been selected to assist in the opening of two brand new elementary schools. I also worked as a secretary at the middle school and high school levels during my tenure.
After I retired, I opened a massage therapy business in which I employed 15 therapists during the ten years there. I sold the business after moving to Hawaii.
I am qualified for the position of Yeoman since I am detail oriented and very organized. Since I was a school secretary, I am very familiar with running staff meetings by preparing agendas and taking minutes and relaying information to staff, parents and district office personnel. I was also responsible for contacting the press to ensure that communication reached the community. I also enjoyed the public relations aspect of my job as well assisting the staff and PTA with hospitality events.
If I am chosen as Yeoman, it will be my pleasure to represent the yacht club and community in a professional manner.
Sincerely
Dona Ziegler
Craig Brown
Candidate for Vice Commodore
A little bit about me…. I was born and raised in Orange County, Ca where I spent all of my life either surfing or enjoying family trips to Lake Havasu, AZ. I enjoy anything and everything related to water. During our search for a place to call home and start a family, my wife Tricia and I discovered Canyon Lake. We fell in love with the “Bit of Paradise” immediately and purchased our home in 2011. Since then, we have loved every minute of it and enjoy everything the lake has to offer.
Our boys Mason (11) and Wyatt (9) keep us on our toes but share our enthusiasm for the water as well. We have had a boat since shortly after we moved in to Canyon Lake and are on our third one since then. Being an avid wakeboarder my children quickly followed suit which led me to running the Canyon Lake Wakeboard Club for several years.
I am currently a member of the CLPOA Rules and Regulations committee which I have been for numerous years and keeps me actively engaged with what is happening in our beautiful city. My current role as an IT professional is challenging but rewarding at the same time, allowing me to work remotely and spend valuable time with my family making those cherished memories to last a lifetime.
My wife Tricia and I joined the Yacht Club in 2024 prior to the Skippers Island Chili cook-off and that was our first official event we were able to participate in. That event showed us how special the Yacht Club is due to such a great group of people and how much fun everyone has together. Since then we have tried to attend as many events as we can and have encouraged several of our friends to join the Yacht Club as well.
